Describe the job your website needs to do
Begin with a short description of your business and the people you want to reach. Explain the main action a visitor should take: request a quote, make a booking, call your team or buy a product. If you already have a website, include its address and the problems you want to solve. Specific examples make your brief more useful than asking only for a modern look.
List the pages and features you need
Write a first draft of the page list. A small business might need a homepage, service pages, an About page and a contact page. An online store has additional requirements for products, cart, checkout and payments. Mention any booking tool, customer login or other integration. Separate features you need for launch from ideas that can be considered later, so the initial project has a clear scope.
Check which content is ready
Gather your logo, service descriptions, contact details and photos you have permission to publish. Identify missing material and explain who will prepare it. If you want to include a testimonial, obtain the customer's approval for the wording and attribution. Existing content may need editing for the new structure. Include your brand colours and any design preferences. Examples help communicate priorities; they are not instructions to copy another business's text, artwork or identity. Explain your needs in your own terms.
Include the technical setup and your timing
